Paint update begins rolling out to Windows Insiders

13 mars 2024 à 17:16
UPDATE 3/21: The below update for Paint that introduces a new size slider for pencil, brushes, and eraser tools has begun rolling out to Windows Insiders in the Beta and Release Preview Channels.
Hello Windows Insiders, today we are beginning to roll out updates to Paint to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels on Windows 11.

Paint (version 11.2402.32.0)

With this update to Paint, we are improving the brush size selection experience with a new size slider for pencil, brushes, and eraser tools. With the new size slider, you can choose from a wider range of size options and preview the selected size on the canvas as you drag the slider. [caption id="attachment_176924" align="alignnone" width="2200"]Paint open with new size slider and size representation active. Paint open with new size slider and size representation active.[/caption] To get started, click on any of the pencil, brushes, or eraser tools, and a size slider will appear on the left side of the canvas. Click and drag along the slider to view different sizes and select the desired size to start drawing! [We are beginning to roll out the new size slider mentioned above, so it may not be available to all Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels just yet as we plan to monitor feedback and see how it lands before pushing it out to everyone.] We are also improving layers by adding a new background option to the Layers panel. With this option, you can set the Background color for the canvas. Open the Layers panel and click the “Background” tile at the bottom or use Ctrl + Shift + B to try this out yourself. This will open the color picker dialog where you can set any color as the background. You can also use the “Hide background” option to make the background completely transparent or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + H to quickly show/hide the background. We are also adding a new way to copy with “Copy visible layers”. This enables you to copy all visible content across layers. To use this option, select an area using the selection tool and invoke the context menu or use the Ctrl + Shift + C keyboard shortcut. “Copy” (Ctrl + C) will copy the visible content from the current layer only. As always, we love getting feedback from the community and we will be looking out for your thoughts and suggestions on this update! With this update, we are excited to introduce Paint Cocreator, a new AI-powered experience powered by DALL-E that helps you create amazing artwork in Paint by describing in a few words what you’d like to create. You can optionally select an art style, and when you click Create, Paint Cocreator will generate three variations of artwork for you to choose from. Select any of them to add to the canvas to start creating! We will be rolling out access slowly at first, so when you get the update, you must first join the waitlist by signing in with your Microsoft account and clicking on the new Cocreator button in the toolbar. You will get an email notification when you are in the preview, and we will give you 50 credits to get started. Each credit lets you generate a new set of images. Paint app update adding support for layers and transparency begins rolling out to Windows Insiders

18 septembre 2023 à 17:01
UPDATE 10/11: The update to the Paint app for Windows 11 that includes layers and transparency is now rolling out to Windows Insiders in the Release Preview Channel (version 11.2308.18.0 and higher) UPDATE 9/21: The update to the Paint app for Windows 11 that includes layers and transparency is now rolling out to Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel (version 11.2308.18.0) Hello Windows Insiders, Today we are beginning to roll out an update for the Paint app to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels (version 11.2308.18.0 or higher). With this update, we are introducing support for layers and transparency! You can now add, remove, and manage layers on the canvas to create richer and more complex digital art. With layers, you can stack shapes, text, and other image elements on top of each other. To get started, click on the new Layers button in the toolbar, which will open a panel on the side of the canvas. This is where you can add new layers to the canvas. Try changing the order of layers in this panel to see how the order of stacked image elements on the canvas changes. You can also show or hide and duplicate individual layers or merge layers together. [caption id="attachment_176579" align="alignnone" width="1024"]Paint composition of a cat utilizing multiple layers. Paint composition of a cat utilizing multiple layers.[/caption] We are adding support for transparency as well, including the ability to open and save transparent PNGs! When working with a single layer, you will notice a checkerboard pattern on the canvas indicating the portions of the image that are transparent. Erasing any content from the canvas now truly erases the content instead of painting the area white. When working with multiple layers, if you erase content on one layer, you will reveal the content in layers underneath. [caption id="attachment_176580" align="alignnone" width="2063"]Short animation showing the background getting removed in Paint. For example, when combined with the new background removal feature, you can quickly create interesting layered compositions.
